Suddenly, SPRING!

All winter, we wait for spring. All through the cold; sometimes bitterly so. We wait through the stalled engines, the frozen fingers, the windshields that need wiped off and the kids who won’t button their coats. We wait through months of hearing everyone complain every time a flake falls from the sky.

But it’s nice. It’s pretty. It gives the earth time to reset and wipe out some of those bugs that bug us so much in the summer. And it gives us time to reset, as well. We take on projects that we do in the house or garage. We paint. We write. We fix things that need fixed. And then suddenly….Time’s up! It’s Spring!

Just as surely as morning follows the night, spring follows the winter. And sure enough, it is here! Time to get out the rakes. Oh, my, how bad a yard comes to look under months of snow bogging it down! Yep! Lots of work to do there!

And those projects? Are they finished? Better hurry up now! What seemed like such a long wait suddenly looks like it went by so quickly when we look at what’s left undone!

Spring. Such a beautiful time! It’s time to plant seeds in our garden and also seeds in our life. We made all the resolutions, now it’s time to act. It’s time to be reborn! It’s a beautiful and wonderful time!

Here at Essentials of Life Holistic Enrichment Center we’re happy to have made it through winter, particularly with our animal program. Evans Heaven Farm Animal Sanctuary and Wildlife Habitat had some challenges to overcome in the barns! With sub-zero temps we had a breaker go out. Luckily we went to bed late that night and got up a little earlier than usual, so the pits and bunnies weren’t freezing for tooooooo many hours! It was 30 degrees in their barn! Solution…a digital thermometer we can read from inside the house! Now we can easily know what their heat is! Other challenges with winter and life on the sanctuary include frozen water bowls, frozen poop (which then melts…ew!) and frozen workers.

We took time during the winter months to work on completing our 501(c)3 application, and woo hoo! Almost done! We have a lot of work in the office…always, but particularly until this is through. If you have time to help with office work, please let us know! This is one area in which we could always use volunteers!

We are looking forward to a great year for our church. We have a few events we are planning and we are looking forward to the Learning Garden this year. We are also looking forward to perhaps rescuing a few more animals and bringing them here to the farm. We’re participating in a couple of festivals, we’re planning a family camping event and we’re starting to schedule more classes again, besides of course our Interspiritual Service and Indigo Children’s Program the first Sunday of every month and Friendship Lunch! Check out our events on Facebook at

So, happy spring, from us to you, as we wrap up our winter projects and embark on new goals! May they blossom like beautiful flowers! With a little love and hard work, they will.

Peace and Love,
