In the Beginning…

In the Beginning…God created the heavens and earth…and a whole system of order was put into place.  Everything worked as it should, enabling growth, change, development, LIFE.

God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good.”   (Genesis 1:31)

VERY good.  In fact, it was a paradise!  We were provided with everything that we need!

There are many versions of the creation story around the world, some of which are listed at the end of this message.  But no matter what our belief about how the earth came to be, everyone surely must realize that the Planet Earth was designed in such a way as to support life on Planet Earth!  Otherwise, we’d have been doomed long ago!  But life goes on…and on…and on!  And we are a part of that life.

The earth, the moon, the sun and the stars…the other planets and all of the astral bodies…held together by an invisible force…perfectly floating in an endless sea.  There is complete perfection in the design!

Hearts that beat, brains that think, legs that move us around.  Our eyes, our ears, all of our body systems…everything about how we work is so intricate and perfect in its design.  And on top of all that, we have a mind and emotions, and a spiritual sense about life.

So here we are, with the earth is our home.  It provides us with shelter and also with access to all of the elements from which we draw energy and life, like food, water and light.  Everything works together in concert to support life on earth.  There is an order to things.  The tiniest bug…all the birds…everything that creepeth and crawleth has its own perfect place in the world, and its own way to survive.  Everything works together for good.

The miracle of birth doesn’t end when the baby is born.  The miracle continues throughout all of life! A baby growing into a child and then an adult is just as incredible as a baby being formed from conception to birth!  Our bodies know what to do…how to grow…how to develop and change through the years.  It’s all programmed into our perfect design.

Likewise, our bodies know how to heal.  Have you ever cut your finger and just let it heal on its own?  It knows perfectly well what to do.  We were designed in such a way as to live.

Think about that.  We are designed in such a way as to LIVE!!!

In the beginning, God created all that is needed to sustain and nourish our lives.  Look to those things and realize the power for healing within the simplest things.  Perhaps the cut finger needs help in healing…look to what God has given for that.  Most likely wrapping the leaf growing there at your feet will do a good job of healing.  There is always a way provided to us that has been there since the beginning of time.  Creation was good from the start, and our needs have been provided for since that time or we wouldn’t be here.

What is it that we really need?  It is the air and the sunshine, the water and earth…the colors, the aromas, the sounds.  It is the rain and the rainbow, the clouds and the stars,
and the herbs of the earth as our food.  It is companionship, friendship, laughter and love.  It is touching, running, singing, laughing, loving, and enjoying LIFE!  It is loving each other and loving our God…God being the good in all things!  It is resting and giving thanks.

ALL of these things can be used towards the good of our health when directly applied.  We know this deep in our heart, do we not?  Science knows it!  There is research into each and every one of these things showing scientifically that what God created for healing is good!  People believing in God should know it as well.  We were given ALL that we need, and it was and is very GOOD!

Do we believe we were created in perfect design, in the image and likeness of God?  Do we believe in the order of the universe?  Call it Divine Order…call it whatever you will.  Mostly I just simply refer to this Perfect Power as God.

We are all free to decide for ourselves what we choose to believe.  To me, God is Love, God is Peace, God is Perfect Wisdom and Grace.   God is the Creative Force in and through all; the only Power that is.

What do you believe God to be?  Is your idea of God compatible with what I’m writing here?  If so, then why would God not provide answers for us?  Why would a loving God create a people not capable of healing themselves?  That just wouldn’t make any sense.  We were created in the image and likeness of God!

“So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.”  (Genesis 1:27)

Good health is a nat
ural thing.  We don’t have to acquire it; we have to let it unfold, as naturally as a flower unfolds.  We don’t have to force it, or pry it, or beg it to unfold. What a naturally beautiful thing!

So to encourage health, we must partake of that which we were given, and avoid that which is contrary to natural design.  Fresh air, plenty of water, whole food and herbs, and exercise balanced with rest are natural health inducers.  Chemical exposure to synthetic substances is toxic to us, as is a lifestyle which is out of balance and foods that are unnatural to us.

If we believe in the beginning God created the heavens and earth and decreed everything he made as good, then we must believe in that goodness today.  We were created in perfect design and placed in an environment perfectly designed to support and sustain us in life.  All the secrets to living a long healthy life are contained in that statement alone!

Is there a cure for anything that may go wrong?  If we are to believe all was created as good…yes there is.  And it can be found in our natural world.  Do we believe in the all-powerful, everywhere present, all-knowing power of God?  Cures have been with us since the beginning of time, available to all in perfect supply.  Just look around you….it’s there.  Even locked in a jail cell, there are ways we can heal, i.e., prayer, meditation, acupressure, reflexology, Reiki, yoga and more…God always gives ways to heal.

In healing, it is not enough to simply just heal the body, for we are more than simply our body.  We also must heal the spirit and mind.  If the mind will not accept wellness, then physical measures only do so much good.  If the spirit is giving its power to fear, or if it is wallowing in resentment, self-pity or hate, this will be expressed in physical ways.

We are whole beings, and so we can’t expect to heal one part of ourselves and leave the other parts unattended if we are to demonstrate the wellness intended for us.   It must be body, mind and spirit.  We must treat the body as the temple of God, and use our mind to think God-like thoughts of belief and our hearts to guide us with love to our perfect expression of good.  Natural health is a result of these things.  Wellness in body, spirit and mind, as well as good healthy relationships, finances and an all-around good healthy life, are the natural result of living a holistic lifestyle of natural health!  It is living in accordance with our perfect design, as created in the beginning and deemed to be good.

There is plenty in nature.  Nature takes care of itself.  Learn to recognize your own place in nature.  It is within your nature that you should be well.  Live in accordance with natural design.  We were made to eat food…so don’t eat chemicals…eat food!  We were made to give love…so don’t be hateful and selfish and expect to be well…eventually that kind of “living” will catch up with you.  Enjoy real living instead!  Look to the goodness in nature and God to provide for your needs.  There is enough power to nourish and heal.

The earth cleanses and replenishes itself through rain.  We must cleanse our bodies of toxins, our minds of erroneous thoughts and our hearts of everything except love.  Then we must nourish ourselves with the good…Keep and partake of the Garden of Eden as it was given to us.

The Garden of Eden represents a place of perfection…find it in how you live, how you think, and that place deep within which is absolute goodness and joy!

Here is a prayer…

“As I sit in the Garden of Eden here in my mind, reflecting on the goodness of all that’s been given to us, I come to the Creator in absolute awe.  Everything we need is always right here in this place of peace and love.  The earth brings forth food and provides us our home.  The sky gives us sunshine to heat us and lighten the day, as well as the moon to light up the night and the stars to show us the way…and of course the beautiful rain to replenish and cleanse   The air is full of sweet natural aroma, and the sounds of nature are all around, soothing my precious soul.  The animals and other people are here to share love, and it’s a beautiful, colorful world!  In this place, I know peace.  In this place I know perfect love.  In this place my needs are fulfilled.  Wellness and plenty for all abounds.  Help me to always remember this place is here for me now, if I but look to what has been given to  me.  For this I am eternally grateful.  And so it is…Amen.”

Genesis chapter 1 King James Version

1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
2 And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.
3 And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.
4 And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness.
5 And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.
6 And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters.

7 And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament: and it was so.

8 And God called the firmament Heaven. And the evening and the morning were the second day.

9 And God said, Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one place, and let the dry land appear: and it was so.

10 And God called the dry land Earth; and the gathering together of the waters called he Seas: and God saw that it was good.

11 And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: and it was so.

12 And the earth brought forth grass, and herb yielding seed after his kind, and the tree yielding fruit, whose seed was in itself, after his kind: and God saw that it was good.

13 And the evening and the morning were the third day.
14 And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide

the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and
for days, and years:
15 And let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so.

16 And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also.

17 And God set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth,

18 And to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness: and God saw that it was good.
19 And the evening and the morning were the fourth day.

20 And God said, Let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creature that hath life, and fowl that may fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven.

21 And God created great whales, and every living creature that moveth, which
the waters brought forth abundantly, after their kind, and every winged
fowl after his kind: and God saw that it was good.

22 And God blessed them, saying, Be fruitful, and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let fowl multiply in the earth.

23 And the evening and the morning were the fifth day.

24 AndGod said, Let the earth bring forth the living creature after his kind,

cattle, and creeping thing, and beast of the earth after his kind: and
it was so.

25 AndGod made the beast of the earth after his kind, and cattle after their

kind, and every thing that creepeth upon the earth after his kind: and
God saw that it was good.

26 AndGod said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them

have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air,
and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping
thing that creepeth upon the earth.

27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.

28 And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and
replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that
moveth upon the earth.

29 And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat.

30 And to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to every thing that creepeth upon the earth, wherein there is life, I have given every green herb for meat: and it was so.
31 And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day.

The above story of creation is the version most commonly believed in the Christian and Jewish faiths. There are many other creation stories, however.  Some of these are listed in Wikipedia
